I’m back here for the first time since Covid and would not return. I booked myself on a STARS rate and found that they have added a rule which excludes two restaurants
and in-room dining, which is a first for me on a STARS rate. The two restaurants, fine, but the IRD is just a strange exclusion. The club lounge, if one cares for it is very basic. Service is very inattentive and the selection is subpar for both afternoon tea and evening service. I checked out the Marriott Surawongse before arriving here and it completely kicks Athenee’s butt in most respects. Both in terms of service in the lounge, general responsiveness/friendliness of staff, room upkeep/modernity. The evening offering at Surawongse was truly high quality with a ton of different options. When asked about mango at Raintree, which was always offered pre-covid, was told it fruits at breakfast are a “seasonal rotation”

, in other words.. probably not
