Phone of my wife can handle eSIM, mine not. So I already bought the eSIM for her, but still want a physical SIM for myself.
If google Translation is correct even the physical option from amazon doesn't include a physical SIM card:
So it should also be possible to just buy the "download version" for 50 Yen and register the card online couple of days before arriving in Japan, so IIJmio can send the physical card to the first hotel we are staying in. Not sure if it will work, but would waste just 50 Yen if it doesn't work.
Edit: I just bought the 50 Yen code at amazon and tried to redeem it. It is possible to choose a physical SIM or a eSIM. The earlierst delivery date for the physical SIM would be 11 november, so they need around 10 days for that.
Now I still don't know if they will accept a hotel address as delivery address or if there will be any ID check. As I have to enter my name in roman letters and a translated version in japanese letters, I don't know which version they will write on the parcel and maybe the hotel will not be able to assign the parcel to me.
