On these flights if you by a business ticket (called First for a flight like DFW-LAX), then EXP can select a seat in the77W First cabin or if coach ticket - then PE. Although the food is domestic F throughout the F and J cabin.
You are incorrect at multiple levels. AA didn't even offer Flagship service to Hawaii until last year when they suddenly upgraded it to Flagship on the DFW HNL/OGG; even before Covid, those flights weren't marketed as Flagship though they did get better meals, yet nowhere close to international standards. Also, there many other Hawaiian routes such LAX HNL that don't get any Flagship service.

MIA DFW or DFW LAX on 77W has both the true F and J cabins sold as standard First; not Flagship. However, they get the worst level of "domestic F" food, not the hot options and overall enhanced service that longer routes such as CLT LAX benefit from.
