Question Tahiti car rental question

We are planning to visit Tahiti for 10 days at the end of Dec and I am in the process of figuring out the car rental situation. It will be our first time there. There will be 4 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 & 7). The Hertz website is showing me an option for a Medium SUV (Kia Sportage or similar) as well as minivan options like Suzuki APV or Hyundai TQ that seat 8+.

I am leery of renting a minivan as I am not sure if the roads and parking spaces in Tahiti are as wide as in the US. Would I be ok with renting the SUV and having 2 adults and 2 kids squeeze into the 2nd row? Would it be an issue for police to stop me if not everyone in the 2nd row was wearing a seatbelt? Or is the minivan ok?

We are staying at a Airbnb in Tahiti and not going to Moorea or any other islands. We do plan to drive around and visit different beaches, etc. in Tahiti itself. Appreciate any insight on how to best handle this.
