OP: Are you based in an area that also has local/regional banks and/or credit unions? Some of these may still offer safe-deposit boxes, and at reasonable rates.

There's a Chase branch in my small, Upstate NY city, but I bank with a regional bank that offers boxes for $21/year. You get an additional $6 off of that if you have their senior checking account, available to anyone who is 50+.
