Yes, my wife agrees. We do 4 leisure trips per year and have tremendous flexibility. She says there are great airlines offering RT J fares for ~$4K anywhere in the world from SFO. For '23 she's asked me to book:

1. SFO-MLE, J, SQ, $3800
2. SFO-BKK, J, AC, $4100
3. SFO-BOM, J, Qatar, $3700
4. SFO-CDG, J, AF, $3600

The only folks getting $4K J fares on UA are companies after their corporate discounts. Kirby says leisure is is important, but he hasn't found a way to get leisure travelers to consistently book UA in J -- even from hub captive locations like SFO. Until he solves that problem, 24K, or 19.5K, or even 16K, is too high a threshold for 1K on UA.

She's basically moving the majority of her J spend away from UA now that she's not pursuing 1K next year.
