I stayed at the Regency about a month ago and found it to be pretty decent. The rooms have been completely redone and have a modern appearance. According to Mathew’s review the Hyatt House rooms are carryovers from the Staybridge Suite days and look rather dated. No lounge, but I found the buffet in the restaurant to be better than the average lounge breakfast.
The property does seem to be working through some opening issues. Some of the floors were still undergoing renovations. I accidentally hit the wrong button on the elevator which opened up to a barricaded construction zone…probably should have had it programmed not to open on that floor. The first room that I was assigned didn’t have a TV remote, the refrigerator appeared to have been just taken out of the box, wasn’t on and still have the shelves taped up, plus no WiFi. I went back to the front desk and they assigned me a room on a different floor which had perfectly functioning Wi-Fi. I’d stay again if I wanted to be on that side of the city.
How did you feel about travel into central London? I have meetings near Tower Bridge and was thinking of staying at the Hyatt Place East London because it's a relatively easy walk but the Hyatt Regency looks nicer.
