How to avoid the "housekeeping" knock during late checkout?
One thing I've noticed lately - even though I've requested and confirmed a 4pm checkout the night before, still in the afternoon, someone will knock on the door shouting "housekeeping", as if they didn't know about my checkout time. This used to happen only occasionally, but now happens almost every stay, at some properties they even come multiple times. I work very irregular hours, so late checkout is quite important for me to get some rest, but these knocks completely defeat the purpose.
Is anyone else also bothered by this? If so, do you have any tricks to avoid it?
I've tried asking the front desk to do not knock before 4pm, but unfortunately that message is never relayed to housekeeping. And of course, the no disturb sigh does absolutely nothing. At this point, if I complain to consumer affairs every time I get this treatment, I'd even worry that Hyatt will ban me for being too hard to please.
