The best way to get the full value for internationals on the plan is the eSIM. If you need physical sim, with the plan it becomes quite tedious, needing addresses etc.
I would suggest you pick up a physical IIJMIO or similar at the airport or local BIC camera/yodobashi when you arrive, if you need a physical sim.
