Yeah that pretty much sums up the Amex lounges in SYD and MEL. They're not branded Centurion lounges which restrict entry to Amex Platinum and Centurion card holders. Instead they allow entry to a range of overbranded Aussie Amex card holders (QF, VA Velocity, David Jones etc...) Therefore more on par with a mid range Priority Pass experience.

From memory the QF J lounge is one level up from Deparures and QF F lounge is two levels up. I've only visited the QF F lounge and can confirm this one (at least) has the views overlooking the tarmac towards the city. I believe the J lounge is underneath and the views from the windows there are somewhat restricted.
