I don't have an iPad anymore just MacBook and iPhone nowadays. I can't find anything for iPad that would fool the wifi into thinking it was a smartphone. You might try using one of the 3rd party mobile browsers that emulate desktop like Opera or DuckDuck might trick it. Maybe the logging into MP account before you choose free Tmo wifi on phone might allow you to switch?

Maybe someone else has some ideas?
