Kimpton - Maa-Lai Bangkok (1/2)

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Royal Ambassador Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, the hotel is great.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate and was upgraded to a 1 King Junior Suite with Balcony.

How are the rooms?
Superb suite.

Around 110 sqm large (so not exactly junior).

Living room with seating area, dining table. Separate guests’ toilets.

Bedroom with comfortable bed.

Superb marble bathroom with massive bathtub, separate walk-in shower, separate toilets.
Harnn toiletries. Dyson hairdryer.

Balcony.
Dressing.

Nespresso machine/kettle.

Flatscreen television with large choice of national cable channels and some international ones.
Connectable television.

Usb sockets next to the bed and desk
Free PressReader.
Very quiet.

Switch to control and adjust the intensity of the lights, and open/close the shades.

Corner suite with view both over hotel’s garden and the Royal Bangkok Sports Club.

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
  • Very nice design, superb suite
  • Impressive breakfast with large choice and excellent offer
  • Excellent Italian restaurant
  • Very pleasant pool and fitness centre
  • Very pleasant and leafy neighborhood.
  • Free bicycles.
  • Very attentive and smiling staff

Bad:
  • Nothing (even if check-in process was a bit messy, but issues - allocation of a non-cleaned room- were quickly solved)

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Points? Would you return?
Yes, definitely (even if the hotel is not cheap for Bangkok).
The Kimpton is a great property in leafy area. Nearest metro station is 10 minutes walk.
It will be certainly my first choice for next stays in Bangkok, even if competition is harsh with the Park Hyatt, Capella, The Standard and soon the renovated InterContinental.
