What a bummer and poorly handled experience! As has been discussed earlier, the staff have gotten more agressive about controlling crowd levels, presumably due to VS complaints about overcrowding, but they definitely should not have set you up for disappointment later in the day. Still, I've entered many times using a credit card and would hate to see the lounge removed from the Amex or CapOne programs.
