I have a Web Special award ticket and I understand that I cannot make changes; however, it’s not clear if this means “no standby” or it means “no change of date”.

On a Web Special award, can I go standby on an earlier flight?

The AA phone agent who I spoke with said that the system wouldn’t allow her to put me on a standby list. But when I’ve flown on a Web Special award before, one Admirals Club agent did a confirmed same-day flight change (although another one wouldn’t, stating that it couldn’t be done from an airport other than the one that the flight was departing from).
