(Suburbs north of NYC.) I’ve had a free Chase safe deposit box through Military banking for about 10 years and CPC for about 6 years. About 6 months ago I received 2 letters informing me that the boxes at my branch location were being discontinued, no assistance to find another box, and I needed to empty my box. Since then I’ve been told by several Chase reps, in person and on the phone, that Chase is no longer renting boxes to new customers and that Chase plans to completely get out of the safe deposit box business.
