I've tried using multicity option at LH website, but that shoots the price over the roof.

What is the best strategy to book flights with longer transfer times? Is there some way to make LH booking engine offer them? Or any recommended OTA that can sell it and offers good support when things go wrong?
......Because we just had a 10 hour layover in the Frankfurt FCT. It was fantastic, but I woke up in Jo'burg looking like a bag of spanners (I think I overdid it in Frankfurt ). But to answer the question, I had similar short layover problems when booking directly with Lufthansa, but no such problems booking through Expedia, with the added benefit that I received full first class status and award miles for a companion fare ticket price.
