I'm pleased to see you'd prefer a beach villa, though I guess you might have your son's safety in mind rather than the environmental and aesthetic damage the Overwater Villas create. If it's only food and the room that are uppermost in your priorities I wonder why you are prepared to travel so far. The Maldives are a fairly inconvenient place to visit and once on your sandbar you might find it a little claustrophobic and limited. Until recently - well, about 10 years ago - the only reason people went to the Maldives was to dive and snorkel the reefs, which is why we went. Now it's all about private pools and spa facilities.
In my opinion, places like the Seychelles and South Pacific islands have infinitely greater appeal.
