On a flight back from Hawaii our bag must have got caught on a belt or something as it was shredded on one size and a bunch of the clothes were as well. Items were spilling out and you could see the clothes and bag had been shredded together. When we went to the baggage office they said there was a line drawn through the baggage receipt which means it was damaged at check-in and we accepted that WN Is not responsible. We said no way and they did say there were no notes on our account and that we could file a claim on line. They were nice enough about it, gave us a new duffle to transfer all of our items, we did submit through the online portal - had to send pictures and receipts, but we did end up getting reimbursed for all the damaged items without trouble - of course some things were new souvenirs so that was a disappointment, but not too bad, and glad it happened on the return. Seemed to us though that whoever first found the damaged bag took a marker out of their pocket and drew a line on it - seems like not the best way to handle. I feel like if it is damaged at check-in then they should made a marking on our baggage claim receipts that we had with us the whole trip instead...
