Yes, get their confirmation, log into the site or on your app, and look up a trip using their confirmation and last name. You can upgrade them from there.

FYI, there is an expert mode thread here which discusses how to get expert mode to work on the app (andriod and iphone), though to my knowledge expert mode is still down on the website for all browsers.
