I've actually tried out both these on recent flights in EY and have to say that I preferred the HNML. They are all "curried", but I found that even if the main course comes with rice, it's still served with an additional warm "paratha" (stuffed flat bread); so if it's a long-haul flight with 2 meals, for me personally it was carb-overload. That's not a complaint by any standards and my HNML meal was definitely far more appetising than the standard fayre for both sectors.

As has already been pointed out, you will get an Indian style dessert so technically no ice cream - I was lucky enough to get ice cream by specifically asking if there was any left over after all other passengers were served their meals, and there were a few tubs spare, but don't necessarily count on that.
