That is how I started. Just to get to silver. Now I have been gold for many years. Although my business travel has changed from cheapest Y to F in that time too.

We did a sort of TP run for my wife. Her company were flying us to Mexico, but Y only. We paid the difference for DUB-Mexico in J, and bought tickets to/from DUB. But we stuffed in every change we could to maximise the TPs (PHL, SFO PHX). Got her to Gold on the one trip and the extra for J over Y direct was minimal. She wants to do a run to HNL to get back to gold after dropping back to bronze.
