OK why not YVR-HKG where he has a better chance of upgrades and a nicer plane. HKG to Xiamen is easy and you can fly Dragonair...
PVG -Xiamen is a hassle... airport swapping etc. and the MAG train only runs a VERY limited schedual... ends at aprox 5 pm. Also I dont think the Mag train takes you to the other airport??? but I am not sure.
