I need to book a flight to Doha - it’s way cheaper via the Qatar Airways website. What’s the difference between booking with a QR or a BA flight number? If I book with a BA flight number can I use my BAEC account avios to upgrade?

I’m QF platinum so wondering if I’ll get a better lounge experience at T5 going on the 8:20pm flight rather than the QR flight at 5:55pm from T4.
