We are traveling on Turkish airlines IAD-CGK. We have a 9 hour layover and then we are taking a Garuda flight from Jakarta to Manado. Garuda and Turkish appear to have an interline agreement for baggage. Does anyone know if Turkish will be able to tag our bags all the way to Manado so they can just be rechecked after we clear customs in Jakarta? If possible, we would like to avoid dragging the bags to our transit hotel. Also, the bags will have scuba gear (in a plain black duffle) and camera equipment in a locked Pelican bag. Is it safe to let them sit in a baggage storage area between flights, or would we be better to collect them and keep them with us? (Cross posted on Turkish Airlines forum) Thanks in advance!
