First things first on these Vanillas (at least for the ones I bought at Sam's) as many have reported on various FT threads you must wait 24 hours from purchase to be able to do anything with these things (purchases, check balance etc). These particular cards said "Happy Birthday" on the exterior packaging. They're issued by MetaBank and serviced by InComm. Many have reported here that virtually no cards serviced by BH will work at Publix at this point and this has been my experience as well since spring '22. If you try to check the balance on these Vanillas via website or phone in the first 24 hrs it will not even recognize that the card is live. In searching the website and packaging there was no way to set a PIN before heading to Publix...I simply used a PIN of my choosing when buying the MOs at the store. Also the first 6 digits of these cards were 4097 58 Exp 11/30. Appreciate those who pointed me in the direction of Vanillas...while I'm doing much less MS these days, it was nice to meet a min spend threshold by grabbing some Vanillas as I only had about 7 days left to do so.
Thanks for the DP. Very helpful
For some reason, I thought that the problem with Publix was one of CS not allowing someone to use GCs for MO purchases, not a hard stop at the register, but since i don't have access to that grocer, I really have no real time experience with them.
