Review of Radisson Blu Mogan

We stayed here as a couple in mid October and had a great vacation.

The hotel is effectively split into two sections built around their own large pools :-
  • The quiet area - reserved for couples and older children (teens?). The lifeguards will quiten down any rowdiness or loud music playing around the pool.
  • The family area - as well as the large saltwater pool there is a separate activity pool for children and the kids club is adjacent. You can imagine the noise levels.
I think quiet building room numbers start with 2 and family rooms with 1.

We had a pool access room in the quiet building - it was great as you get a couple of sun loungers and chairs right out side your room and you can walk 10 yards to the pool, have a dip and then return to your private area. Beats taking all your gear up and down to the pool in the lift.

Tying the buildings together is the entertainment/dining area.
Breakfast and dinner are served in "The Larder" as buffets. We were on a breakfast only rate so can only comment on that part. The spread was very good and replenished constantly, but then it would need to be as with 422 rooms you can imagine the footfall at peak times. Having said that, the breakfast hours were very generous, 8-11 I believe.
For lunch you have a choice of two pool bars - the usual fare in these places.
There is an upscale restaurant called Fellini that you have to book at reception. We didn't bother as there were lots of options in town.
The large entertainment room has a different show or karaoke session every night - most of the crowd appeared to be families.

The location is at the opposite end of the island from the airport but our car service (booked through Canary Forum - recommended) only took 30 minutes on a Saturday, it will probably take 45 minutes during the week.
From the hotel you can walk down to Mogan harbour in about 20 minutes. There are lots of bars and restaurants down there. If you don't want to walk that far there is a shopping complex about 5 minutes from the hotel (on the way to the harbour) that has 4 or 5 restaurants in it, also that's where the supermarket is.

We had a late flight home so asked for late check out (I'm Radisson Gold). This was declined as the hotel was 100% full from that day onwards because of the start of UK half term holidays. Funnily enough I could book 4 pool access rooms on the app for that day......who knows how their room allocation sweep works.
They did provide us with access to a "shower room" (a regular room with no bedding) for 30 minutes later in the day so we could freshen up before we left.

All in all a wonderful property and well worth a visit.
