What has happened to Istanbul? I have been there recently and I stayed at IHG hotels. I found the Hilton properties far too expensive. There was a time until very recently where you could get great hotels at a fraction of the price elsewhere, and now I am seeing mostly stupid prices for mostly mediocre hotels. Clearly people are happy paying these prices, otherwise they would quickly come down. How come the change? Oh yes, and they do advertise in Euros, but you're always billed in TRY which means that the Euro price sticks whether or not the TRY goes up or down, and of course you have to eat FX charges on your cards.
