Schiphol suspends VIP service registrations

Due to persistent crowds, Schiphol is stopping registrations for the VIP service. "This has to do with the enormous numbers of requests from existing and new customers," according to the airport.

The service makes it easier for passengers to check in, their luggage is processed and passport control takes place in a private lounge. They are also taken to the plane by car. They pay 617 euros for this. VIP passengers were able to avoid long queues, but it is now also crowded in the lounge.

The service had a record 21,500 travelers in October. Only people who already had the VIP service still have a chance to make a reservation, although that is no longer always possible. Schiphol cannot yet say how long the service will be unavailable.

The airport has been struggling for months with great crowds due to staff shortages in, among other things, security. This makes it even more difficult to meet the high demand.
