I was being a little tongue-in-cheek. Not by much, though, as someone was bragging about something pretty close to that not too long ago -- with upgrades on every segment, as I recall. It must have had an overnight. Still, personally, I can't fathom it.

Thanks for the "concern." I'm very clear it's not about me. Fortunately, as a 100k+ Platinum, I still do reasonably well on upgrades. I have to call a lot more often, and I'm in row 1 more than ever before, but it usually works out for me, day of departure if nothing else. On the long-hauls, I burn miles to confirm first so that I don't have to risk it. Prior to this year, those things never happened.

As I point out my post above, it's the Gold and Silver members who are suffering. I know several of them who are very unhappy, especially when one phone agent tells them there's no space in first and another is offering to sell it to them.
