Well, it is a significant amount of miles (plus I'm recently retired and I suppose everyone needs a "hobby" )
Delta eventually pointed me to the website where you submit all the details for mileage credit, so we'll see. I tried this same thing over a month ago and never heard back -- they told me it should take 7 days. Yeah, right.
