Ali'i is not as tall as the other towers, but can have nice views if you can get a corner room on the ocean end. Those have balconies that are "L" shaped, with the short part of the "L" facing the ocean. I'm not sure that Ali'i would be farther than the other towers - it is definitely closer to both than Tapa. Ali'i has its own pool, and when you walk out of the front entrance you are more or less across the sidewalk from the main pool. The beach would start about 100-150 feet to your left as you exit the building.

Ali'i has (had?) its own separate check in desk, in the lobby of that tower. A reservation in Ali'i would let you bypass the mob at the main desk & be in your room before most people made it to the front of the main line. My understanding is that it *used* to be the most expensive and exclusive tower, but they have reduced the special bennies over the years. You do still get access to a pool/bar/hot tub that is only for guests in that tower, so that can be good.

I'll attach a couple of photos that might help understand the relationship of the buildings. The Tapa tower is more or less "behind" Ali'i, but it is taller - so you could still potentially see ocean if you are above the 15th floor or so, but you will walk farther to both pool and beach.
