If you look at AA and AY according to anecdotal evidence on FlyerTalk both those airlines have stopped providing free drinks to foreign Emeralds on their flights.

For me frequent flier status is about the published benefits, especially those provided behind the scenes. I want to be looked after when things go wrong, I want to get support when I need it. What I don't need is ego stroking, just provide the product I've paid for. Yes, a 'welcome back' chat with an IFL is welcome but I don't expect them nor crave them but appreciate them when they occur. I do not expect any freebies.
Good for you. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

If you're suggesting I'm obsessed with recognition, you're quite wrong. I really don't give a tinker's cuss about a CSM reading my name from an iPad during a "welcome back" interaction, it adds no value to any part of the trip. But the suggestion that cabin crew are somehow debasing the CE brand (such as it is) by offering complimentary drinks and a DO&Co pudding leftover from the meal service is pure nonsense. It's a great thing to do from a customer experience perspective. It does shape preferences.
