Maybe BA need to rebrand it to OWS / GCH lounge so that people don’t have such high standards.
I like the First wing and first lounge, really good for domestic travel. When flying Long Haul I prefer to try something different though.
Here’s how I see it - I appreciate having free access to the F lounge as somebody on a short haul economy ticket as a reward for my “loyalty” to BA. It’s a nice touch. If I was on a F ticket, i’d have access to the CCR. So no complaints there either.
If I was however flying J without status I would be pretty disappointed by the lounge offering.
First off, I'm well aware that BA has the Concord Room for actual F passengers. That said, in the "lingua franca" of Oneworld, BA
themselves call the lounge an "F Lounge" and thus I think its completely fair to measure it against other F Lounges in the Oneworld system. Furthermore, contrary to what some here might believe even though QF, JL, and CX don't have an equivalent to BA's CCR, the reality is the majority of the passengers using their F lounges are not, in fact, actually traveling in F; they are actually OWEs traveling with guests. There just aren't that many F passengers in the network anymore, as many carriers have drastically pulled back on F service.
Second, to be frank, and I think many here have already agreed, the T5 GF isn't really even a nice business class lounge, let alone an F Lounge, or a Oneworld Emerald lounge if that is what you want to call it.
If BA wants to hide behind the CCR as their "F lounge" and not be compared to the F lounges of QF, JL, or CX, then that is fine but at least call a spade a spade and just reclassify it as a business class lounge.
