Really great one today on OSL to LHR, BA767, by the inflight lead. She did the greetings to those of us down the back immediately following the CE meal service, was gracious and friendly without being obsequious, natural, and very generous with what was offered. I was parched and initially just asked for a cup of tea - she came back with tea, nuts, and a Do & Co Mousse - then I came to my senses and asked for a G&T which she went off and brought back. She was also very diligent in terms of offering refills.
I've been fortunate to have two excellent CSM/IFL in the last 8 days or so, one in CE and one in ET, and it really does make all the difference.
Whilst this is a lovely experience and thoughtful touch, a bit uncomfortable that this is setting false expectations and the SCCM is going against company standards by offering complimentary drinks and dessert, as this dilutes the CE product, and the company line is that this should not happen. For clarity, the standard is a welcome back and greeting from either the SCCM or a crew member (greeting can be delegated), complimentary drinks and refills and food from alternative cabins is not a standard.
