If she currently does not have any HP status, be sure to sign her up for the status challenge. If within 3 months from signing up (it starts from the day you sign up, so sign up no sooner than the day before her next flight), if she meets certain criteria, she will get that level of status for the year.
SILVER: 6 segments -or- 6k miles flown
GOLD: 14 segments -or- 11.5k miles flown
PLAT: 22 segments -or- 18k miles flown

An added benefit is that they immediately give you temporary Silver status, and mail you a temp card within a week. So you can use the Elite lines at check-in and thru security (at least in PHX).
