I've booked a few standard rewards and had no issues with service, priority or otherwise. Everything worked as expected. I would say, for SE's standard is the way to go, if you do not plan on using your eUps.

For example, took the family to LHR and home via CDG. Kids had standard rewards and my wife and I were on a Latitude reward for PE (which didn't clear on the outbound) but that is another story. Points were reasonable and worked out OK.
