I'm not sure where in the world you'd get much more than a police report for your insurance. And perhaps a little bit more, so that if the police catch the perp red-handed for something else, they can also pin your crime on the perp as well...
The sad part of the OP's case is that the housekeeping company might be so desperate for staff that they wouldn't even fire the culprit...
