I think you are giving way too much agency to a median passenger.
Most people book KLM if it 1. suits their wallet, 2. suits their timetable.
Most people don't study which connecting airports will let them connect without passing transit security. And they definitely don't watch Dutch or industry news, and decide to avoid AMS based on what's shown there.
