I flew BOS-ATL-AUS yesterday on a mileage redemption, with both flights booked in Comfort+.The BOS-ATL flight was delayed 3 hours and with only a 55 minute connection in ATL it wasn’t possible to make my original flight. I was therefore rebooked onto a later flight (albeit arriving earlier than the delayed flight) to ATL and a later flight to AUS. Comfort+ was available to ATL, but not on any of the other flights to AUS, so I was rebooked in main cabin. To add insult to injury (and despite making it clear that a middle seat wasn’t an option as being stuck between two people triggers my anxiety), I ended up in a middle seat as the BOS gate agent couldn’t assign a seat and assignments had been done by the time I made it to the gate in ATL.

I did make it through the flight, but it wasn’t pleasant and it’s left me very unhappy with Delta, but what’s done is done and there’s no point creating an issue out of it.

Anyway, that’s a very long winded way of getting to the question. Will I be able to reclaim some miles for the downgrade to main cabin? Presumably the mileage required would have been lower had I booked main cabin on the ATL-AUS flight.
