On my original vax card they did write down my booster info yesterday. That will be enough to count as the 3rd shot Japan wants? I cant seem to find anything concrete online about this. I would think they want a QR code but I have no clue how to get this booster onto a QR along with the 2 others.

Your CDC paper cert should be good enough. I don't know if they even care about or accept QR codes for proof of vaccination. Assuming you live in California, and if you really want a new QR code from California, try this official website: https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/

I got my 4th shot recently, and that was almost instantly reflected to the newly downloaded QR code though it has never been any useful to me.
