DTS issued two separate tickets SFO-FRA-SFO using UA YCA rates and FRA-BAH-FRA on Gulf air. I have a 26 hour break built in Frankfurt coming and going.
How difficult would it be for me to ask United Government desk to shift the first leg, SFO-FRA up a day or two without involving DTS? I will not be missing any work days. I've been told that they won't touch a reservation before travel has started.

rest stops en route are not authorized when traveler takes leave at a stopover location.
So take a paid rest stop, or take leave (or in this case non duty days). Not both. (And fwiw, see 3.b. and c. too). Not trying to rain on your parade, just a taxpayer 😉
