So, good news: I managed to get an agent to rebook to my desired flights.
Bad news: LAX-EWR on the SK codeshare operated by UA maps me in to Economy, despite showing Business on the SK website. :/
I really don't want to call them again for fear they will botch my ticket and I guess since I "accepted" the change they will just tell me I accepted the downgrade. *sigh*
