US Bank used to require a pre-existing relationship with them in order to apply for the Altitude Reserve card, but they recently eliminated that requirement.
I like your thinking but I'm reluctant to get yet another credit card right now. It's funny, I literally closed on a HELOC last week with US Bank and opened a checking account with them in order to get a discount on the rate. I already have AAdvantage Citi ($450), Amex Plat ($695+$175 for additional cards) and Amex Bonvoy Brilliant ($650) so that's $2k in fees every year (though I will always recuperate it!). I already think that's too much! I feel like I'd be getting the US Bank card just so I can get free 'dinner' at Mise En Place at TPA. Is it really worth all the fuss? Idk
