I am acquainted with a Baroness, and attended an event with her at a local public sector body. For various reasons it was meant to be a very informal thing, asking for her insight in a very specific domain in which she is an expert. Unfortunately, the press office of the organisation wanted to publicise it. I think they wanted some official (possibly a Lord Lieutenant or something similar) to be present… Thankfully some behind the scenes negotiation meant it wasn’t blown up out of all proportion and passed off without unnecessary fuss.
