I thought the cell companies, mostly manufacturers, like Qualcomm and Nokia were talking about putting repeaters on the belly of the aircraft to agregate the signals and help them connect with towers on the ground.

Granted, that doesn't speak to tower overload on the ground and the speed of a moving object problems, but migth assist with connectivity,

and thus, drive us CRAZY!!!
