Completely disagree. Eligibility requirement can't be overstated. If airline club access via credit card removed entry requirement of flying said airline, no doubt these clubs would face similar challenges as CLs.

Also, I think Amex cards are more available internationally. Does Chase offer a non-US United club card? How about Citi/Barclay and AA AC card?
