To be honest I wouldn't personally be surprised to see QR flights being full. Besides, the staff on the ground don't care who gets booked on what - it doesn't come out of their wages, so they have no reason to withhold rebooking options. By all accounts if they were getting shouted at by other passengers I'm sure they'd be delighted to rebook people onto QR to get them moving/out of their hair
