It will be interesting to see what DL does with feeds into ORD from its hubs (and elsewhere maybe), and if that ORD build will sort of come at the expense of MSP and DTW service to DL hubs and/or to international destinations (out of MSP and DTW).
Back in the olden days of the early/mid 90s, NW 6 was NRT-ORD-BOS with a change of gauge from widebody to narrowbody. I used to take the Sunday NW 6 on ORD-BOS when I would go home to Chicago to visit family as I had NW mid-tier status back then with OPM travel from the old BOS low E gates.

ORD T5 makes it easier for example to run for example a morning RDU-ORD flight connecting to the daily KE38 at 1225pm. But DL already flies DL159 DTW-ICN at basically the same time. So building up ORD T5 as a connection point isn't going to move the chains that much.
