However, the lounge agents have had it so drilled into them that the child policy only applies to QF and not other OW airlines. So they are on the look out for OW BPs and often consider that QF mainline has the family guest policy. It often comes up with regards to QR - as at least anecdotally that seems to be a family heavy airline, and QF do not get paid by QR for additional guests. (we fly QR a fair bit, as a family, and they see my BP first on top which is BA GGL, and are quick to point out and rather sexist assumption that we are three guests and should go to the Business Lounge, and quickly state that it is QRs policy, and I have to highlight to them that my wife and two kids are by the way QF WPs - hence the comment on QR).
So as it is a QF lounge, there is no cross charge to other airlines, you are flying QF and there is (although it does not officially apply) a QF family lounge policy, I would give it a go, and have a Plan B. As it is right at the entrance, it is not like you are going out of your way.
You did not say what class you are in? Other options is that SYD has good lounges in The House (PP) and the Amex lounge, each of which fall between the QF Business and QF First lounges. So it is not like it is a dire situation - but I can understand the desire for Flounge.

All four of us got in with out a blink.
So it is confirmed that OWE flying QF, can enter QF lounge same as their own platinum members. Family rule of guest 1 adult + 2 kids no problem.
