The theory I subscribe to is that the passenger profile has changed post-pandemic.
Before, business travellers were prevalent. They tend to be in and out of the lounges quite quickly - if they even bother visiting at all.
Now, there are more leisure travellers who arrive earlier and spend more time in the lounges. And they’re more likely to guest someone in if allowed.
Given the massive issues airports and airlines have been having this year, passengers are also arriving earlier, so the amount of time spent in the lounge per passenger is likely higher.
